NEW EXHIBITION FROM 4th June- 1st July 2026.
MARTA MUNOZ.

Marta was born in Valencia, Spain and moved in the late seventies to the UK and grew up here.
She graduated from Camberwell College of Art in 1999 and moved to Hastings with her small family in 2007.

She loves drawing. Her inspiration, she says, comes from everywhere but mostly from nature and real life experiences.
She is interested in combining dreams with reality to create images which are instinctive, fresh and mysterious.

She works part time as an art facilitator for various events and organisations but mostly for Arts on Prescription, running YOYO, a family & children's Art group at Art in the Park. She is at her happiest when surrounded by other people creating and bringing together ideas and a sense of community but nothing beats the silence of a busy mind producing beautiful drawings in the studio. She has found the perfect balance of the loneliness of an artist and the creative energy of working with others, she feels lucky.

She is currently working on a Children's book 'Jabali' which she hopes to get published soon.

Come and join Tara Franks at these weekly workshops at The Crown that bring together expectant and new mums through song.
Described as “sublime, so calming and gratifying” and ‘the highlight’ of a new mothers week, this special course focuses on the well-being of pregnant and new mothers ( with babes in slings up to around 9 months - pre-walkers).

Through group singing, breathwork and gentle movement, the group will come together and connect over the 4 week course - with time set aside for chats with other parents alongside the opportunity to connect with your baby in a new creative way

The Crown Hastings is hosting a special art exhibition, an open call, in support of Sustenance, the St Leonards charity working to tackle food insecurity across the local area. Featuring work by local artists on the theme of Food, Sharing and Community, the exhibition explores the role that food plays in bringing people together and strengthening neighbourhood connections. Every piece will be sold for £50, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to Sustenance to support its work providing food, meals and practical help to those who need it most. The exhibition offers a simple way for people to support a vital local charity while taking home an original piece of art created by members of the Hastings and St Leonards creative community.
The show will run throughout the month of July 2026, with an opening drinks event on Monday 6th July from 4-6pm.

To add your piece of artwork to the show please email [email protected].

We were proud that the Babes in Arms Collective chose to have a group photo at The Crown. The collective has exhibited at The Crown, and many of the members have had exhibitions at The Crown too.

Babes In Arms is a collective of artist mothers living in Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill, who have come together through a shared experience of the inspiration and the difficulties that are attached to being an artist or creative whilst also trying to raise a child.

The collective was initiated by artists Annie Mackin and Elizabeth Power, who often met with their children and decided to call to arms other local creative mothers to join a collective with the objective of having group exhibitions and running artist-led workshops.

Their work encourages mothers to bond with their children over the creative process, and is an outlet that provides some autonomy and independence alongside motherhood. This approach promotes and reignites confidence in creating and recognises the undulating experience and relationship of motherhood and creativity.

We were very proud to host the new Hastings Morris Side The Molly Winklers at The Crown on the Saturday morning of Hastings Jack in the Green weekend. They brought a joy and an energy to the pub and the street - we loved it! They even composed a 'Crown' song for us.

The Molly Winklers are a new and inclusive Hastings-based Morris side which formed in 2026 as part of the Scene and Heard Festival. Their progressive dance style is based on Molly and Cotswold traditions, creatively blending old collected dances with their own joyfully choreographed moves. Their music swings from trad folk to UK pop bangers as they caper with bells and cavort with beasts. Grown from the seeds of her vision, Hastings-born musician Bev Lee Harling gathered together some members of the Morris curious local community to connect and explore this dance form, leaning into the ideas and creativity of everyone involved.

They have an upcoming show at The Stables Theatre and Arts Centre : https://stablestheatre.co.uk/molly-winklers-morris/

Thanks to Lou Crosby for the wonderful photos and of course a huge thank you to The Molly Winklers for the performances.
