Well Lynn and Russell are back from Crete and again had a very successful 6 months helping the street cats. 122 neutered , unfortunately 3 euthanised and countless cared for with various illnesses from kittens with colds (which just needed an antibiotic injection followed by a week of antibiotics and TLC ) to older cats with various cancers.

Ear cancer if caught early enough the cat can live happily with the ears trimmed. Nose cancer is a different matter, (usually caused either by scrounging in a bin for food and the dirt and grease stays on the nose, or they have a white nose and have sunburn ), these cats are monitored and when they stop eating it’s time for inevitable.

They even had a cat with mouth cancer (wobbly bob) He’s still alive at present staying with their vet Marianna, with whom they have built up a very good relationship. He is in the best place and will live his life out with her🥹.

Every morning Lynn would feed 80-100 cats in 4 villages and check for new cats that hadn’t been neutered or ill cats that needed help. One morning she found a kitten (about 5 weeks old) in a terrible state. Straight to the vets for a check up and he turned out to be blind (named Stevie after Stevie Wonder) after being flea’d and cleaned he remained at their house until he found his forever home in Agios Nicolaos. Big success story 😻.

Another morning she picked up a kitten about 2/3 months old that couldn’t stand up properly and had seizures. Again to the vets diagnosed with ataxia and epilepsy. A cat can live quite happily with Ataxia (they just look drunk), but the epilepsy couldn’t be controlled, unfortunately this kitten didn’t make it🥹.

Another kitten with a sore eye was taken in and the poor little girl needed it removed. She is now with a friend in a neighbouring village being cared for hopefully she makes it as she has an infection🤞.

We would like to thank you all once again for your generous donations, this would not have been possible without all the support! Lynn, the team here at The Craft & Tap, as well as the cats are incredibly grateful. We are so proud of her hard work and are looking forward to hearing more success stories after next year’s summer❤️.
