10 years at The Shears — we’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way , but we do take pride in that we have been here so long in todays world .
Some people love it, some people not so much. We’ve tried to train people up to help balance our work and family life.
We’ve struggled through Covid and the cost of living crisis, just like you all have. Our family has got smaller down at The Shears, especially this year, facing tough times just like everyone else in the world.
We tried to be together as one, but there is no let-up running The Shears and being in the hospitality trade.
We’ve seen customers come and go, and we’ve had to move with the times while still keeping everything traditional, especially as traditional pubs are forever closing.
We have struggled to keep the kitchen where we want it, but that is what this post is about. I will be back in the kitchen with the family, bringing you the Shears food you know and love — proper Yorkshire pub grub, with proper Yorkshire portions, homemade food cooked fresh to your order.
As said, we can still make mistakes and get things wrong, but I have to spend more time at the pub again to ensure our food and service is going out how it’s supposed to be.
I thank you all for the support and love you have shown me and my family for the last 10 years — it’s much appreciated.
Here’s to plenty more years and good times at The Shears.
