At The Fox and Goose we believe in fairness which is why we only serve draught beer in lined oversize glasses. That way when you order a pint of beer you get a pint of liquid refreshment plus a creamy head. Most other pubs and bars serve a pint in a "brimful" glass so you don't get a full pint of beer.

You may have noticed that this year I'm buying every English hopped beer I can get my hands on, so of course I jumped at the chance to do an English hopped bitter with Nightjar Brew Co. As an added bonus their recipe uses 2 new hops, Boadicea and Godiva from the Charles Faram development programme. I'll be at the front of the queue when it makes the pumps in a couple of weeks.

Big thanks to Matt and Jake for making me so welcome. I'm hoping they'll pop down to the pub once it's on, for an informal " meet the brewer". If you'd like an insight into their working lives - watch this space for details.

We're travelling as far as we ever do for this weekend's line up as I now have access to some North Eastern breweries.

I've only tried a couple of pales from Wylam, but they were excellent, and I'm excited to finally be able to get a couple of casks.

I've never tried anything from North Pier but they get excellent reviews, and who wouldn't want a pint of Northern Best?

I thought we'd have a change of pace this week. Rather than hunting out new breweries we're returning to an old favourite, Linfit Brewery. Their English Guineas was my favourite on a recent trip to the Sair Inn.

We'll also have Harvest IPA, supporting young farmers, and Voices in the Sky, a hoppy pale from Turning Point.

But I'm looking forward to Aretes, a West Coast Ipa from Trig Brewery, and Once in a Millennium, an East India Porter marking Blue Bee's 1000th brew.

A great line up for this weekend, although I might be being a little optimistic about the chances of some reaching the pumps. Fresh on this morning is Plough On an English hopped mild from Trig Brewing which is delicious and sure to fly out. We've also a couple of casks of Mallinsons Brewing Company latest special Wiggle Room a tasty blonde featuring Nectaron and Simcoe. Fingers crossed we'll also have an Olicana IPA from Brewsmith Brewery which I'm certainly looking forward to.

So what have we got on the pumps for our Anniversary Weekend? I'm super pleased to have got re brews of a couple of our more recent collaborations. Frank from Bingley Brewery and Good for the Goose from Pictish Brewing Company are both tasty hoppy pales and I'm already wishing I'd bought more. A bigger cellar is definitely on my Christmas list. I'm also really looking forward to Brand X an old school IPA from Wilde Child Brewing Co.
