Happy weekend all! Your starting lineup for tap beers this Friday evening.

Please note, Saturdays 5th & 12th, and Sunday the 6th September, we’ll be opening at 2pm instead of our usual 12pm due to staff holidays. It’ll be a 12pm open as usual on Sunday 13th for the Great North Run!

Saturday, new snacks day!

We’re stoked to be serving some of the finest La Ribera snacks, courtesy of pratt schneiders, on our menu from today.

La Ribera was founded in 1946 and is a staple supplier of Spanish produce in Catalunya and beyond. Their olives are the same plump, juicy Gordal variety that you’re used to at Axis, but in two different delicious marinades: ‘Big Spicy’ with cayenne pepper, jalapeños and piparra pepper, and ‘Big Juicy’ with garlic, oregano and subtle spices.

We also have the perfect pintxo - gildas! A long time favourite of ours - Cantabrian anchovy, mild piparra pepper and gordal olive on a cocktail stick.

Along with fried & salted peeled Valencian almonds, perfect washed down with a cold beer.

Open til 10 tonight for pre-match refreshments 🫒🐟

The return of some favourites all round for our by the glass list this weekend!

An eagerly awaited restock of L’Acrobate and Crush from Julie & Toby Bainbridge on the rosé and chilled red side of things; Muscadet from Landron Chartier for a classic textured, mineral white option; plus the lovely Cabernet Franc ‘Brindezingue’ from Pierre Borel.

Speaking of eagerly awaited, we’re pleased to have Lucy Chilvers on the list again with her wonderfully easy drinking sparkling Xarel•lo/Muscat ‘Alma’.

Finally, after it flew out from the bottle, we have Brand Bro’s newest orange cuvée ‘Orange Pur’ pouring on tap for ultimate refreshment - fun, fruity, textured peach notes.

Lovely to have a bit of sunshine to start off the weekend!

Starting with a new release, today is the launch of DEYA Brewery’s two New Zealand versions of Steady Rolling Man using freshly harvested hops - one with Nelson Sauvin and one with Motueka. Both pouring side by side now.

A favourite wine is back by the glass from Christina Netzl - her chilled Zweigelt is pure summer in a glass! Juicy red cherry & watermelon notes with delicate violet aromas.

Fresh sausage rolls from Great Northern Provisions as always to keep us going, along with Steak & Ale and Chickpea Spinach Jalfrezi pies over the weekend.

Speaking of this weekend; we’ll be open a little later on Saturday & Sunday at 2pm on both days. Apologies for any inconvenience!

Garage Project!

A lovely little selection has landed all the way from Wellington, New Zealand. Showcasing a variety of styles from their Wild Workshop, famous pickle sours and a few hop forward IPAs. Very excited to have these in our fridge from one of our all time favourites 🇳🇿

What a day for a crisp wine or a frothy pint to start off the long weekend!

Some favourite refreshers on by the glass including the return of the delicious and aptly named chilled cuvée Crush. Matt Gregory in Leicestershire has also produced a beautiful pale rosé ‘Coral’ - hedgerow fruit aromas, fresh tart fruit notes with a dry, mineral finish - all coming in at 8.5%. Pouring all weekend!

Speaking of refreshment; has every mood covered with their Sicilian Lemon Radler or the crisp, dry bitterness of their West Coast Pilsner.

Hours are as usual across the weekend, plus open Monday 1pm-6pm.
