In an exhilarating conclusion to the 2025/26 rugby season, the Eagles triumphed over St. Ives II to secure the Cornwall RFU Clubs Shield, winning by a decisive score of 29-14. The match unfolded on Sunday, 31st May 2026, at the picturesque Polson Bridge, Launceston Rugby Club, drawing an enthusiastic crowd eager to witness the final showdown.

The Eagles, known for their tenacity and skill, came out strong from the outset. They quickly established a lead that they expertly maintained throughout the match. Sammy Tank opened the scoring, securing a well-deserved try that set the tone for the game. Following closely behind, Tom Spiller added another try, further solidifying the Eagles' dominance. However, it was Finn Deavin who truly shone, netting two tries and demonstrating exceptional agility and strength on the field.

Adding to the Eagles' scoring prowess was Ethan Williams, whose contributions were critical to their success. Williams successfully converted three tries and also slotted in a penalty, showcasing his skill as a playmaker and reinforcing his importance to the team’s strategy.

Tom Spiller, head of rugby, reflected on the season's success, stating, “Without the players turning up and wanting to play rugby and to improve and become better players myself, Josh, Daz and Walks wouldn’t be able to do what we do. It’s been a great season, and we are proud of the Eagles; yesterday’s final win was a great way to cap it off.”

This victory not only marks a triumphant end to the season but also serves as a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. The Eagles' ability to clinch the trophy for the second consecutive year reflects their teamwork, perseverance, and commitment to success.

As the community celebrates this remarkable achievement, fans are left to consider the key factors behind the Eagles' impressive season. With strong leadership and a talented roster, the future looks bright for the Eagles as they prepare for the challenges ahead. Congratulations to the team for their outstanding performance and for bringing home the Cornwall RFU Clubs Shield once again!
