1066 - THE TRUTH REVEALED
as any schoolboy can tell you, in 1066, William The Concreter (who was actually known as "Just William" then, as he hadnt yet Concreted anything), came across the channel with his mates in a load of Small Boats, and King Harold (who had just been in a scrap with some Norwegians outside of Chelseas ground at Stamford Bridge), came to send them to Rwanda, as part of his pledge to stop the boats.
It all comes to a head at Hastings, theres a bit of a scrap, Harold gets shot in the eye, and thats that.

Only thats not the whole story.

You see, "Just William" and his mates (who were weirdly all called Norman) werent invading at all. They just wanted to play Bingo at the village hall in a place called "Battle".

Harold misunderstood, thinking Just William and his Merry Norman's, were there FOR a Battle, not just to play bingo.

So the whole thing could have been avoided.

JULY 25TH 1953 - SOMEWHERE IN HAVANA, CUBA

On the eve of the revolution, it might be a fact that Che Guevara sat down with his mates, and probably some Rum.. They discussed the impending overthrow of Cubas fledgling democracy then played bingo.

Cash was tight (theyd spent it all on guns and stuff) so they used ci**rs as dabbers and burned holes in the bingo card. Which made checking them quite difficult. Also the jackpot wasnt cash, the top prize was the right to have your face printed on Tshirts after the event (and probably an airport named after you). Che won. Which was just as well because most of them were ugly as hell.

No such issues at The Grey Horse bingo tonight from 7:30ish. With non-standard calls from Philip Richardson that the revolutionaries would have been proud of.

B**r Belly Run 2026, kicks off at around 3pm today. Has anyone got a ginger wig? Can I run in stilettos? How far is 5k? Why do we even do this?

We do it to have a laugh, drink b**r and raise a few quid for charity. Come join us, ideally to look silly and run, but also to support, help out or just enjoy the music of Callum Donnison Music from 7pm

Also The Street Kitchen are here with food from 5-8!
