Well done Crewe Golf Club from all at CGC

🏆 SCRATCH TEAM CHAMPIONS! 🏆

What a finish! ⛳️

The Crewe Golf Club Scratch Team were victorious today in the NSDGL Jim Cumberbatch Scratch Trophy Final, defeating Leek Golf Club 3–2 at Congleton Golf Club.

It couldn’t have been much closer, with the match all square heading into the final game. The last match went to an extra hole, where John Kendall produced a moment of magic — sinking a 25-foot birdie putt from off the green to seal the victory! 🏆👏

A fantastic achievement and a huge congratulations to everyone who represented the team throughout the rounds.

Major Winners Update - The Barker Cup

Congratulations to Lee Elliott who won 'The Barker Cup' on Sunday 2 August, one of our 'Major' Board competitions here at Congleton Golf Club.
This is Lee's second Major of the season on top of his 'Hole in One', so he is having a great year.

The top three places on the day were:
1st: Lee Elliott (80 gross, less 15, net 65)
2nd: Nathan Walker (80 gross, less 13, net 67)
3rd: Phil Dowd (85 gross, less 14, net 71)

Well done to the top three and to all the players taking part on the day.

Christmas Day Lunch - Bookings and Deposits

We are pleased to announce that Christmas Day Lunch is full and we have several people on a reserve list.

All members and visitors who have booked need to pay their deposits and confirm numbers no later than Friday the 25th of September. If deposits are not paid we will have no option but to cancel bookings and offer places to people on the reserve list.

Major Winner - Men's Jubilee Trophy

Apologies as we are a little later posting this one due to 'me' the person posting, not having captured the required photo…….however, no less important that we recognise the achievement as we do for all our 'Major' winners her at CGC.

Congratulations and well done to Nathan Walker who won the Men's Jubilee Trophy played on the 7 June.

The top three scores on the day were:

1st: Nathan Walker 38 pts
2nd: Nick Worrall 37 pts (on a card paly-off, last nine holes)
3rd: John Mort 37 pts

Congleton Golf Club will be hosting a 'Macmillan Coffee Morning' on Tuesday 29 September between 11:00am and 1:00pm

Open to Members and Non Members. Please come along for a cuppa and some lovely cake.

All proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Major Winners Update - The Forster Cup

Congratulations to Stuart Sutton who won 'The Forster Cup' on Sunday 2 August, one of our 'Major' Board competitions here at Congleton Golf Club.

Stuart is having a great season this year representing the Men's Team, has secured a Hole in One, won the Men's Captain's Day Stableford, and now the Forster Cup.

The top three places on the day were:
1st: Stuart Sutton (74 gross, less 7, net 67)
2nd: Nick Worrall (75 gross, less 5, net 69)
3rd: James Phillips (79 gross, less 9, net 70)

As the rain gives our fairways a welcome boost here at Congleton Golf Club, it has also refilled the pond on the 8th green…….clearly creating interest for this Heron this morning.

Thanks to Bill Smith for sharing the picture during his round, as he commented, it clearly knew the safest place was on the green as we played our approach shots. 😂

Double Major Winner - Nick Worrall

Congratulations to Nick Worrall who secured two 'Major' wins played this month. The Scratch Cup and Men's Centenary.

The Scratch Cup was over two rounds, the first on 2 August, played as part of the Forster & Barker competition, and the second on the 9 August, played as part of the Men's Centenary. Without doubt Nick played some fabulous golf indeed.

2 August (as part of the Forster & Barker)…….Gross 74
9 August(as part of the Men's Centenary)….Gross 73
Total across the two rounds 147 and winning by 13 shots against the runner up. 👏👏👏

Men's Centenary
9 August: 73 Gross, less 4 handicap and a 69 Net.

Awesome Golf Nick and both of these are so well deserved. Congratulations from all at CGC.
