A date for the diary for Remembrance Sunday in Brightlingsea, Sunday 8 November.
Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives in the service of our country, as well as those who have served, suffered and sacrificed in conflicts over many generations.
It is easy for some of the ceremony and tradition around Remembrance to become familiar, but the reason for it is a very simple one: to make sure those sacrifices are not forgotten.
The Brightlingsea service is a little different from many others because it takes place in the afternoon rather than around 11am.
That is deliberate. Holding the service at 3pm means people who wish to attend one of the larger morning services in places such as Colchester or Clacton can still return to Brightlingsea and take part in our own town service afterwards.
The timings this year are:
14:30 muster at the Royal British Legion
14:45 form up
14:50 march off
15:00 service at the Memorial Gardens
Everyone is welcome, whether you want to join the march, attend the service itself, or simply come along afterwards.
The Brightlingsea branch of the Royal British Legion has asked us to help get the information out, so the attached notice will also be appearing on screens around the town in the run-up to the day.
