7 stunning wines.

For some, these are among the very last bottles available anywhere.

Tonight’s tasting — Off the Beaten Track with Steve Hovington does exactly what it says on the tin. A line-up of brilliantly individual wines from regions and grapes that deserve far more attention.

🍷 Tonight’s line-up :

• 2012 Chinon Clos de la Cure — Charles Joguet — Loire Valley, France

• 2015 Un Matin Face au Lac — Vignes de Paradis — Savoie, France

• 2016 Lacima — Dominio do Bibei — Galicia, Spain

• 2019 Lagrein Rubeno — Cantina Andrian — Alto Adige, Italy

• 2019 Trane Cinsault — Pedro Parra — Itata Valley, Chile

• 2023 Tin Soldier — Thorne & Daughters — Swartland, South Africa

• 2023 Xisto Ilimitado Branco — Luis Seabra — Douro, Portugal

Rare bottles, fascinating stories and a room full of wine lovers.
Exactly the kind of evening we love at The Wine Rooms.

A small update to our opening hours from this week at The Wine Rooms.

Going forward we’ll be open:

Thursday 5pm – 11pm
Friday 5pm – 11pm
Saturday 3pm – 11pm

We’ll no longer be opening on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, except for private bookings, tastings, events and courses.

📅 Saturday 2nd May
👨‍🍳 Fish Cookery Course with Ryan Craig (Organic Garden)
💷 £100 per person — all included

Need more confidence cooking fish? This is exactly the day for it.

Join us in the kitchen with Ryan Craig of Organic Garden for a hands-on cookery course designed to take the stress out of preparing and cooking fish — and replace it with proper technique, understanding, and a few excellent dishes you’ll actually cook again at home.

You’ll work with top-quality fish (wild where possible) and learn how to prepare and cook:

Cured chalk stream trout
Seabass ceviche
Lemon oil poached hake with samphire
Mussels with coconut curry sauce

From cleaning and filleting through to plating, Ryan will guide you step-by-step — with plenty of time to get properly involved.

The day includes:

Coffee and cake from Bould Brothers to start
A light lunch with ceviche, mussels and fresh focaccia
Two glasses of wine from us
Recipes to take home, plus kitchen extras (curing salt, ajillo, and more)

And we finish, as we should, by sitting down together to eat and drink what you’ve prepared.

A relaxed, hands-on day in our kitchen — practical, social, and genuinely useful.

Limited spaces available.

Right in the heart of Cambridge, something pretty special is happening.

Gutter&Stars — the city’s first and only winery — is producing small-batch English wines just a mile from us, in the basement of the historic Chesterton Mill. Winemaker Chris Wilson brings a seriously impressive background to it too, having worked vintages in Napa, Germany and Sussex, alongside years spent as a wine journalist.

Now pouring by the glass at The Wine Rooms:

‘There Goes the Fear’ Chardonnay 2023

A confident, modern English Chardonnay — ripe orchard fruit, a touch of spice, subtle oak and bright, clean acidity. Precise, layered, and properly drinkable.

This is Cambridge wine, made by a Cambridge winemaker, and poured right here in Cambridge.

Come and try it for yourself.
