We have3 shops (with w**e bars) in Cambridge as well as franchises and partner businesses alongside a successful door-to-door and wholesale operations nationwide. Cambridge W**e Merchants was established in 1993 by two friends, Hal Wilson and Brett Turner, who met at Peterhouse May Ball in Cambridge (UK) in 1990. Sharing a love of w**e, they wanted to work in the w**e trade but didn't fancy working for somebody else, and so CWM was born.
“We started with one shop in Mill Rd, Cambridge, and have never looked back”. Still owned by Hal and Brett, we’re now one of the biggest independent w**e merchants in the country and we are continuing to expand. We have three shops (with two w**e bars) in Cambridge at Bridge Street, King's Parade, and Cherry Hinton Rd, as well as franchises in Ampthill and Royston (Herts), plus successful door-to-door and wholesale operations nationwide. We have won many awards including International W**e Challenge (the world’s biggest w**e competition) top prize: “Merchant of the Year”, Decanter Magazine's 'Best National W**e Shop', and we’ve been voted the UK’s No. 1 Independent Drinks Retailer numerous times. Our team consists of a varied and hugely talented group of individuals covering many nationalities, ages and backgrounds. Many are ex-Oddbins, Thresher or Majestic, all are passionate about what we do and pretty amazing at what they do. Our mission is simply to be the best independent w**e merchant in the country, and to have fun doing it!
