Our beloved Pub Cat, Winston, had a lucky escape after being hit by a car and that’s how he ended up with The RSPCA and eventually with us. Please sign this petition to help Cats and their owners!
‼️ UK CAT OWNERS — PLEASE READ ‼️
In the UK, a driver can hit a cat, know they’ve done it, and legally drive away without reporting it.
That’s exactly what happened to my girl, Elsie, last week.
She was hit by a car outside our home. The driver stopped, got out, and then left her in the road before driving away.
Elsie was my shadow. She followed me everywhere, patrolled the bathroom like my safety was her job, and filled the house with personality. Losing her like this has been heartbreaking.
What makes it harder is knowing there is no legal requirement for drivers to report hitting a cat or seek help.
This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this gap.
In 2016, my cat Ralph went missing. I spent six years not knowing what had happened to him — constantly searching, hoping, even picking up cats from the street to have their microchip scanned.
I only found out years later that he had died back then.
That loss is what led me to start this business — turning something painful into something positive, and building a community of people who love their cats as much as I do.
But it’s entirely possible Ralph was also hit by a car, and because there is no obligation to report it, I was left not knowing for years.
Cats are now legally required to be microchipped. If we recognise them enough for that, they should be recognised when their lives are taken on the road.
There is already a UK Parliament petition to change this:

I’m determined that losing Elsie will contribute towards the change needed to protect other cats and their owners.
