Fad has been in existence as a first of it's kind lane way/ art gallery / bar / place of assembly since 1995. Johnny Halleday the king of character himself has established / founded and run FAD Gallery to become one of Melbournes most loved and still 'hidden' laneway bars. Situated in the heart of Chinatown Fad is known for many things, but primarily it's known as a damn fine place where all peo

ple from any walks of life can come and have a drink, a chat, a meeting, check out the artwork, come for an art opening, come for a dance, a party or anything a long those lines. Supporting artists and musicians, with a variety of art openings taking place throughout the year, live music each and every Thursday night and a DJ/music selecta playing tunes every Friday & Saturday from the past 5/6 decades that guarantees a room full of people (from all walks of life) have a time like no other dancing the night away. The only we can describe the weekends at fad is like a house party on heat. Pretty much everything you wanted in a bar minus the di*****ds. It's a winning situation at FAD. So come down for a drink anytime you please, we are open from tuesday - saturday from 4pm-12am (tuesday & wednesday) and 4pm - 1am (thursday - saturday).

🎉It's the weekend, and we've got a damn fine one ahead of us 🎉 Kicking off Friday in true FAD style — drink specials, the best vibes, open from 3pm, happy hour from 3pm. And because Sydney take on those mighty Lions in an early one Saturday, we're opening from 3pm that day too, happy hour kicking off from 3pm again — which means 4 hours of happy hour across the weekend!! 🙌

But tonight it's all Blues vs Cats — Elimination Final, 7.40pm, live on the big screen at FAD.

Sam Walsh running finals like he owns the joint, Jagga Smith doing Jagga Smith things, Cripps through the middle, Weitering the general down back, Harry Dean just being an absolute machine — elimination final footy doesn't get much bigger than this....especially for some at FAD.

The damn fine Ripper cocktail is on for $10, $5 pies and pasties all night, happy hour til 7pm then the game is on, and all the FADulous vibes you know and love. Damn fine game of footy, damn fine night at FAD either way, with the best folk and sips!

It's Thirsty Thursday, and tonight the finals action is happening a long way from the G — Hawthorn take on Fremantle out west, first bounce 8:10pm AEST.

Doesn't mean Melbourne misses out. Get in from 4pm for our Thirsty Thursday happy hour: $7 tins and $8 house spirits, wines, bubbles and seltzers, running through to 7pm. Damn fine prices for a damn fine start to the night.

Wildcard round - the AFL's newest gamble, and honestly, we're here for it. No pre-finals bye this year, just four teams thrown straight into do-or-die footy from the first bounce.

And it's pivotal for a few members of the FAD flock this week. Friday night, the mighty Pies take on the Doggies. Saturday night, those damn fine Blues take on the Dees. Winner takes the finals spot, loser's season is done — the stakes don't get much higher than this, and the damn fine times are happening pre game - during game and post game!

FAD Finals Fever kicks off this weekend to match the occasion — all your usual damn fine Friday and Saturday night vibes at FAD, with the footy up on the big screen alongside it. Whilst the game's on: $10 basics + exclusive signature finals cocktail, "The Ripper", $10 during the game. Fridays also bring $5 pies and pasties, because footy and pie warmers just go together. One thing that's not a gamble — a damn fine drink at FAD.

Happy hour still runs til 7pm as always.

We're hiring & expanding our family at FAD Gallery Bar!
Looking for 1 or 2 damn fine all-round bartender superstars to join our crew at FAD.

FAD's been a fixture in Chinatown's laneways for 31 years, part gallery, part bar, all walks of life welcome. Part everything that makes Melbourne such an ace place.
We're after someone who gets that vibe and wants to be part of it.
Min. 2 years fast-paced bar experience, valid RSA, and solid cocktail skills preferred — but if you're a legend without the cocktail chops, we'll train you up.
Shifts start weekend-focused, perfect for anyone after a weekend gig to help with the bills and cost of living, while still having a good time working with a lovely crew, great tunes and good vibes. Option for more hours as we head into the warmer months, plus some exciting new plans in the works — great timing to get in early.
So weekend (Fri-Sat) availability is a MUST.

Comfortable sometimes flying solo but mostly as part of a small, tight-knit crew, you'll serve, set up, pack down, clean and banter with the best of them. A solid gold all rounder!
Licence goes til 1am, with pack down and re-set finishing by 2am (at latest) on weekends, so late(ish) nights are part of the deal.
Our regulars span 18 to 80 (no joke) — a genuinely lovely mix of people where everyone can have a chat and just be themselves.
Walk in a stranger, leave a regular, that's the vibe we're after in whoever joins us too.
Award rate pay, paid trial shifts (this should go without saying), and a genuinely FADulous environment.
Trial shifts on a Friday or Saturday night so you can show us what you've got at full tilt - starting the 28th
