Dom and Lisa were lucky enough to spend time in Elgin over the weekend, hosted by the lovely people from Almenkerk and introduced to a few of the producers who make this area such a special part of the South African wine world.
At Almenkerk, they tasted current vintages alongside wines from 10 years ago, which is pretty special to experience side by side. They also spent time in the cellar tasting from the barrels before heading on to Radford Dale for more barrel tastings, Oak Valley for a look around their beautiful setup, and Paul Wallace Family Wines for a tasting of both the Paul Wallace and Off The Record ranges.
The day was a real reminder of why we love what we do.
Being able to see where the wines come from, meet the people behind the bottles, and spend time in the places that shape them is something we never take for granted.
A big thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome, including Almenkerk, Radford Dale, Oak Valley, Paul Wallace Family Wines, Off The Record, La Brune and Iona.
And a special mention to Cheverells Farm for looking after us during our stay.
Feeling very lucky to have places like Elgin so close by, and even luckier to be able to share a small piece of it through the wines we pour at Tannin. 🍷
