Our menu features tasty hand packed burgers, delicious wings, mouth watering ribs, world famous pig roasts and Chicago's Western Suburb's Best Fish Fry and BBQ. We host Live Entertainment on most weekends during the Summer as well as Weekly Bar Bingo and Trivia. We are known for our 4 Acre "Backyard" which features a wiffle ball field, Sand volleyball courts, giant connect four basketball, lawn po

ng, bocce ball, bags, gazebo, outdoor fire pit, and a fireplace on our beautifully lit patio to provide the perfect ambience for enjoying a meal with friends and family. We also have two large tented areas available for private parties and corporate events. Our spacious outdoor setting will leave you relaxed and comfortable while providing fun for the whole family. THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB #13: The Case of the Longest Summer Ever

After pulling a double and running around the Backyard in this oppressive heat, JR has officially reached the point where he needs a break.

And honestly?

WE ALL DO.

Because this summer has felt approximately 47 months long.

The entire Hawthorne’s crew has been sweating, hustling, serving, bartending, hauling, cleaning, fixing, running, and doing it all over again.

Day after day.

And then there’s JR.

Sitting silently by himself.

Staring into the distance.

Contemplating life.

Questioning every decision that led him to this moment.

He doesn’t say, “I need a day off.”

He doesn’t have to.

We all know exactly what he’s thinking.

And judging by the looks around the Backyard…

WE’RE ALL THINKING IT.

But while we’ll be here ALL WEEKEND LONG doing what we do…

MONDAY IS OUR DAY.

We’re CLOSED MONDAY FOR LABOR DAY so the whole crew can finally:

STOP. BREATHE. RECHARGE.

Just one glorious day to recover from what feels like the longest summer in the history of summer.

📚 JUST RELEASED from the Hawthorne’s Backyard Literary Collection:

THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB #12: The Case of “My Dad Said I Could”

It started innocently enough…

Some little guests were stacking, climbing, and treating the Lawn Pong cans like a jungle gym. So, naturally, they were asked to please stop.

The response?

“MY DAD SAID I COULD.”

Never mind that the cans aren’t playground equipment. Never mind the safety issue. Dad said it was okay.

And that’s when Heidi had a thought:

OUR HOUSE. OUR RULES.

So let’s flip the script.

Imagine the entire Hawthorne’s staff showing up at Dad’s house. We start climbing on furniture, knocking things over, rearranging the living room, maybe breaking a few things.

Dad: “HEY! STOP BREAKING MY STUFF!”

Us: “LOU SAID WE COULD.”

Because apparently that’s how this works. Right? 🤷‍♀️

We love our little guests, but safety rules aren’t suggestions—and parental permission doesn’t override the rules of someone else’s establishment.

Will the Lawn Pong cans finally be treated like Lawn Pong cans?

Will Dad still be okay with it when the staff shows up at his house?

And most importantly…

Dolly Parton wasn’t just a musical legend. She had the heart, generosity, and personality that somehow managed to be even bigger than her iconic hair.

Through the years, Dolly used her success to lift up others—from founding the Imagination Library, which has gifted millions of free books to children, to supporting literacy, education, childhood hunger, disaster relief, and countless charitable causes. She donated millions to communities affected by wildfires and other disasters, helped fund education and scholarships, and consistently used her platform to remind people that kindness, compassion, and giving back matter.

She didn’t just sing about making the world a little better. She actually went out and did it.
