A very special surprise visit from Trust Nichols. Today was his first day of pre-k. Trust was in the mood for some Ivy City Smokehouse signature smoked & grilled chicken wings after a long day of heavy academics. Trust is astute in many fields and is a fast learner. Most recently, he specializes in Dinosaur Archeology and memorized much of the Latin terminology for all of these ancient creatures.

I know that ICS proprietor, Greg Casten will be happy to see this classic car parked in front of our building. I remember being a kid bouncing around in the back seat of Greg’s Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with my sisters. This is a 1967 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight convertible.

The enormous 126-inch wheelbase, very long rear quarters, distinctive front fender treatment and the full-size convertible body. Oldsmobile’s 98 was its flagship conventional luxury model.

Even better, the standard powertrain makes it a pretty serious cruiser: the 425-cu-in (7.0-liter) Super Rocket V8, rated at 365 gross horsepower and 470 lb-ft, paired with a 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic.

It was also relatively uncommon: contemporary-model information cited for the 1967 Ninety-Eight indicates 3,769 convertibles were produced, with a base price of about $4,498!

That car looks fantastic parked in front of Ivy City Smokehouse. The period Oldsmobile and the industrial façade make those photos look like they could have been deliberately staged for a vintage advertisement.

We had our Back to School event at Ivy City Smokehouse and it was a fantastic experience for the community. Kids received back to school supplies and after they were fed, played several rounds of musical chairs!!!

What a pleasure it was tonight at Ivy City Smokehouse to welcome two extraordinary guests!

We were delighted to host Niels Duinker (The Netherlands), an 8-time Guinness World Records holder, internationally acclaimed juggler, comedian, and entertainer, along with Heidi Kulas (USA), a renowned choreographer, dance judge, and performing arts professional. We got to spend time before Niels heads off for his next cruise ship contract.

While many juggling performers specialize in only a handful of props, Niels has mastered an incredible variety of juggling disciplines and is constantly developing new routines and innovative material. His creativity, technical skill, and stage presence have earned him worldwide recognition and audiences across the globe. In recent years, Neils trained under the supervision of Maestro Albert Lucas, a highly conditioned athlete and widely considered one of the greatest technical jugglers of all time - credited with the innovation of sports juggling and dominating numbers juggling achievements during the 20th century recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records.
