What does it mean to be river people? For Chelan PUD, it means creating opportunities for the community to connect with the Columbia River, learn about its wildlife and celebrate the cultures and traditions tied to it. The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival returns Sept. 19 at Rocky Reach Park and Discovery Center for a free day of fish, wildlife, culture and hands-on fun. Families can hear Native American stories, make gyotaku fish prints, explore a portable aquarium and visit a Native American village featuring educators and exhibitors from 11 tribes and bands. Before Community Day, nearly 2,000 local third and fourth graders will also visit Rocky Reach for two days of outdoor learning and discovery. The Bonneville Power Administration has unveiled its updated 2026-2030 Strategic Plan, centered on these priorities: grow the grid, ensure regional energy security, reliability, and affordability. The plan emphasizes accelerating transmission expansion and power supply solutions to meet rising energy demand while ensuring affordability and reliability for the region's public power customers. "BPA has already taken considerable steps to grow the grid in a timely, strategic manner, my vision is to be bolder still," said Administrator Travis Kavulla. Utility professionals gathered at Mason PUD 3 in Shelton, Washington for NWPPA’s Introduction to Utility Warehousing course. Led by Ellery Queen of Q Tech Professional Services, this four-part course provided participants with practical knowledge and tools to strengthen warehouse operations, including logistics, storage, materials handling, receiving and shipping processes, safety, inventory management, automation, and supervision. Participants are gaining hands-on insights, sharing best practices, and exploring ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness within their utility warehouse operations. A special thank you to Mason PUD 3 for hosting this valuable training opportunity and supporting continued professional development across the public power community.
