We knew when we made the decision to become a non-smoking and non-vaping Post that not everyone would be happy about it. Change is hard, especially when something has been a certain way for a very long time.

But the decision was made for a reason: to make Post 988 a place where more of our members, veterans, families and friends feel comfortable walking through the door and staying awhile. 🇺🇸❤️

We completely understand that some people may not agree with the change. We respect that.

What’s disappointing is seeing disagreement turn into intentionally withholding support from the Post.

Post 988 belongs to all of us. The lights still need to stay on. Our veterans still deserve our support. Our events still need people to show up. Our bartenders are still here pouring drinks and probably giving you entirely too much sass. 😂 And the mission of this Post didn’t change on September 1 just because smoking moved outside.

You don’t have to love every decision that gets made.

You don’t even have to agree with it.

But there’s a pretty big difference between disagreeing with a decision and hoping the place you supposedly care about struggles because you didn’t get your way.

For everyone who has continued showing up, supporting us, bringing friends, having a drink, playing a game, eating a pizza or simply giving the new policy a chance: thank you. Truly. ❤️

We’re working hard to make the outdoor smoking area comfortable year-round and we’re equally committed to making the inside of Post 988 welcoming to even more people than before.

Change takes a minute.
