For the last weekend of July, we will have 6 French wines open to taste. The first four are long-term shelf staples here, the last 2 are lovely examples of relatively recently released Bordeaux. The Gare du Vin will have the same wines as last weekend.

For the weekend of July 24th we will have 6 wines open from New Zealand and South Africa. The tasting is based around Anne's suggestion to honour the sad passing of Sam Neill who owned a winery in his adopted New Zealand. Two of his wines are featured on the tasting. We start with a 91-point South African Chenin Blanc, then a 94-point New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and rounding out the whites with Sam's Two Paddocks Riesling. The first red will be the Two Paddocks Pinot Noir, this will not be available for sale, as there were only enough bottles left to cover the tasting. We will finish with a pair of South African reds, a great value Pinotage and the delightfully named Boutenhoutskloof Chocolate Block. This is a $30 tasting with individual pours from $4 to $9, taxes included. The Gare du Vin has some beauties; Sigalas Assyrtiko, Tempier Bandol Rosé, a 1er Cru Auxey Duresses and the 2018 Cain Five.
