20 Years. 20 weeks. 20 stories ❤️ Celebrating 20 Years of Francis Court and the lives changed along the way.

My journey with FaithWorks began in 2006, while I was on probation for a substance use disorder and attending outpatient treatment through Trinity House. After years of struggling to maintain sobriety following my husband’s death in June 1993, I found myself in an unhealthy living environment with my two children that made recovery difficult. When my best friend told me about FaithWorks, I applied and was among the program’s first residents.

FaithWorks provided a safe, structured environment where my children and I received counseling, support, and guidance without judgment. The classes and encouragement from Robert Scott, Monique, and Mamie helped me rebuild my family, learn to live sober, and establish a foundation for lasting recovery. I credit the support I received at FaithWorks as a major part of my continued sobriety and the life I have built since.

While living at FaithWorks, I worked as an office assistant and at a local law office. I eventually worked full-time at the law office for 10 years before joining the Tehama County Department of Social Services, where I began pursuing my education in social work. My daughter and I both earned associate degrees in Social Sciences from Shasta College and bachelor’s degrees from Chico State. In 2023, we both completed our master’s degrees in social work. We are now Associate Clinical Social Workers (ACSWs) working toward licensure as therapists. My daughter works for the Department of Education, and I work at Victor, serving children and young adults up to age 26. My and my daughter's ultimate goal is to open transitional housing in our community sometime in the near future after we our licensed therapist.

Today, I am proud of the lives my children and I have built. My daughter is married and has two children, while my son has two children and another on the way. My son has also graduated from nursing school and is preparing to take his licensing exam. FaithWorks helped transform my life, restore my family, and set us on a path toward education, meaningful careers, and a brighter future.-Julie-

Melissa we are blessed by your loyalty and leadership.
We can count the years, but we could never count the lives you've touched.

This past Saturday, we celebrated a very special milestone: Program Director Melissa's 15-year work-anniversary with FaithWorks!🎉

Fifteen years of showing up, helping people through life's hardest moments, celebrating victories, solving problems, and helping make the impossible feel possible.

Melissa's journey is a beautiful full-circle story of faith and purpose. From the beginning of her journey with FaithWorks as a client to now serving as our Program Director, she is living proof that God can take our experiences, our challenges, and our victories and use them to make a difference in the lives of others. ❤️

Her role is rarely easy. It requires sacrifice, compassion, and sometimes a whole lot of grace! But Melissa continues to show up with a servant's heart, demonstrating what it truly means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Happy 15 years and happy fifteen more (we pray 🙏🏻)

🏡 20 Years, 20 Stories, 20 Weeks ❤️
As we celebrate 20 years of Francis Court, we continue sharing the stories of families whose lives have been touched by FaithWorks. Each story is a reminder of how hope, support, and encouragement can make a lasting difference.

More than 18 years ago, my family and I came to Francis Court after experiencing homelessness. We had three young children, and we were struggling with addiction and trying to figure out how to get our lives back on track. We wanted a better life for our family, but we needed help getting there.
When we moved into Francis Court, we were given more than just a place to live. We were given an opportunity to start over, to work on ourselves, and to begin building a stable future for our children.
During our time there, our family continued to grow. One of our children was even born while we were living at Francis Court. It became a place where we could focus on being a family, learning how to move forward, and making the changes we needed to make.
I was able to find a job and started working my way up. Eventually, I moved into management, and I continued to grow in my career even after we left Francis Court.
Looking back now, it's amazing to see how far we've come. Today, we own our own home and our own business. Things that once seemed so far out of reach became possible because we were given an opportunity and chose to keep moving forward.
Our journey wasn't always easy, and it didn't happen overnight. It took hard work, determination, and people who believed in us when we were still learning to believe in ourselves.
Francis Court was an important part of our journey. It gave our family a safe place to rebuild our lives and the chance to create a different future for our children.
We will always be grateful that FaithWorks believed in our family and helped us believe in ourselves. -Tony-

FaithWorks is incredibly grateful for such a beautiful night! No Place Like Home 2026 was a huge blessing and the glimmers of hope are evident in these photos. Thank you to every person who helped out, donated, sponsored a table, prayed, spoke, bought a ticket, dressed up, laughed, cried and all the things. We celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Francis Court and had so many amazing supporters in the room. 💕 We are honored to this work and even more honored to be a part of this community!
