It’s a tradition that means a whole lot more to us than just three songs.

We play them to honor the men and women of our military and our first responders — those who serve, sacrifice and protect our communities and our country.

And The Rose is for someone especially close to the LPC family: Sonny Castellow, late father of our Head Cook Clint Castellow. His memory is still very much a part of this team, and every cookoff, we make sure he gets his song. 🌹

For a few minutes, the drinks stop pouring, the craziness settles down, arms go around shoulders, and everybody sings together.

The countdown to Pasadena starts NOW. 🔥
38 days until move in for PLS&R Cookoff!

Today was our annual pre-cookoff meeting, and while the party doesn't start for just a little over a month, the work absolutely does.

Behind every successful Lost Pit Cookers cookoff are countless hours of planning, meetings, fundraising, sponsor outreach, equipment prep, and an incredible group of volunteers who make it all happen. This team puts in the work long before the first brisket hits the pit.

That also means it's officially Sponsor Season!

Today, on Father's Day, we remember and honor Sonny Castellow, our Head Cook Clint Castellow 's Dad.

The legacy we celebrate today would not exist without the man who helped build its foundation. Sonny's hard work, values, dedication to family, and love for his son helped shape what LPC has become over the years.

His influence lives on through Clint, and through every member who carries on the traditions, friendships, and spirit that make Lost Pit Cookers special.

Though he is no longer with us, his impact can still be felt around every pit, every gathering, and every story shared among friends.

Happy Father's Day in Heaven, Sonny. Thank you for the legacy you left behind and the example you set for all of us. You are missed, remembered, and forever a part of LPC. ❤️🔥

This weekend at the Strawberry Festival was one of those weekends that reminds Clint and I why we love being part of Lost Pit Cookers. The calls may not always fall exactly where we want them to, but the work, effort, friendships, laughs, long nights, and teamwork are what make this team special.

Margaritas – 10th & 11th team
Dessert – 6th place (Dee)
Cook’s Choice – 2nd place team
Brisket – 6th place (Dave)
Chicken – 24th place (Clint)
Fajitas – 25th place (Dave)
Ribs……. Well… we don’t need to talk about ribs this weekend 😂

As a coach, one thing I’ve learned over the years is that successful teams are not built during the easy wins. They’re built through showing up, working hard, staying positive, helping each other, and continuing to compete no matter what the scoreboard says. That’s exactly what this team does.

Thank you to every single person who cooked, prepped, decorated, cleaned, ran around, stayed up late, laughed with us, and represented Lost Pit Cookers so well this weekend. Some of y’all have been with us a long time, and that loyalty and friendship means more than you know.

We may chase trophies, but what we’ve really built is a family. Clint and I appreciate every one of y’all more than we can put into words. Proud to stand beside this crew every single cookoff.

Now let’s regroup, learn from it, laugh about it, and get ready for the next one.

Unfortunately, the fairgrounds have officially reached capacity and no additional guests will be allowed entry without a previously purchased wristband or ticket.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support and understanding, and we hate that we won’t get to see some of you this weekend. Thank you for continuing to support Lost Pit Cookers year after year — we’ll be back before you know it!

We look forward to seeing everyone again in 4 months at Pasadena Rodeo! 🤠🖤
