Two lovely new reds from Lubanzi in South Africa. They are begging to be enjoyed on our patio (or yours)!

"Anomalous" is a whole cluster, carbonic pinotage that drinks more like a Beaujolais than a typical, aggressive expression of the grape.

"Midnight Bob" is 100% cabernet franc. It is deliciously fruity, with hints of smoke and spice.

Lubanzi is a great social-minded winery. They maintain fair-trade sourcing, act as stewards of the planet, and return 50% of their profits to the families that farm their grapes.

This month: Bottle Shock

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the “Judgement of Paris,” in which California wineries were put up against the best wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. The Americans exceeded expectations, winning in both categories.

Bottle Shock tells the fictionalized story of Chateau Montelena, who beat out some of the best chardonnay Burgundy has to offer.
