NEW BEER RELEASE! Back on tap just in time for Fest season is our Vienna lager, Fest Vienna. Brewed with Weyermann Pils, Vienna, and CaraMunich I malts, this malt bomb is subtly bittered to 25 IBUs with German Perle and Saphir, with a late kettle addition of Tettnanger hops, which add a fleeting floral kiss of hops in the aroma. Production time was seven weeks, including five weeks at near-freezing temperatures. At 5.4% ABV, you should be able to enjoy a second one. Why not brew a typical Oktoberfest? Brewer John gets asked this frequently, but you'll need to hear it from him: "The late George Fix, a mathematician and noted homebrewer and brewing author, reeled me in to Viennas in the early 1990s, not long after I started homebrewing. My Vienna recipe is scaled to a formulation of his from one of his brewing books. In particular, I feel the hopping regimen for this beer sets it apart a bit and allows for perfect balance. The hops used are classic German noble varieties, and occasionally Slovenian or Czech hops depending on availability. The Vienna style, in our mind, is essentially a standard Fest bier, not quite as big in ABV but with better attenuation and a leaner body." Available now on draft in our Tasting Room, with cans available to-go soon.
