🍀🎻 Introduce Your Kids to the Magic of Traditional Irish Music! 🎶🍀

This Sunday, join us at The Burren Public House for a special afternoon celebrating the rich traditions of Irish music in partnership with CCÉ Coleman–O’Grady.

Led by musicians PJ Doran and Fiona O’Brien, this hands-on workshop is designed to give children a fun and welcoming introduction to traditional Irish music. Whether your child has never picked up an instrument before or is already discovering a love of music, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn, play, and experience a living tradition.

🕑 Workshop begins at 2 PM

🎶 Open session at 3 PM
📍 The Burren Public House, Woodlawn

Join us at The Burren for an evening where literature meets music and cultures speak to one another. Authors Kerry Neville and Matthew Carey Salyer will read from their work and discuss writing at the edges of identity, place, inheritance, and transformation — followed by a live performance of traditional Irish and Moroccan music in fusion, curated by Colin Harte.

Kerry Neville is the author of the acclaimed memoir, Momma May Be Mad, and two collections of stories, Necessary Lies and Remember to Forget Me. Her work appears in publications such as The Irish Times, The Washington Post, Gettysburg Review, TriQuarterly, and elsewhere. She was a Fulbright Fellow and visiting faculty at University of Limerick. She teaches at Georgia State College and University. Most recently, she was interviewed on NPR’s Narrative Edge.

Matthew Carey Salyer is the author of Probation (finalist for the Michael Waters Prize), Ravage & Snare, Lambkin, and the forthcoming Inis. He has also written a scholarly monograph and numerous articles on British Imperial cultural history. His poetry and essays appear in The Chronicle Review, Hunger Mountain, Massachusetts Review, Southword, Forbes, Poetry Northwest, and elsewhere. He has been a finalist or semifinalist for the Brittingham and Felix Pollak Prizes, Iowa Review Prize in Poetry and others. Most recently, he appeared in New York City Players’ Buildings I&II, written and directed by Richard Maxwell.

A night about the spaces between genres, nations, histories, and art forms — and what can happen there.
