Bridging the Gap, the LSBA's biannual CLE seminar held in May and October following the Bar Admissions ceremony, took place in New Orleans on Oct. 27 & 28. The seminar is designed to acquaint recent law school graduates with many of the practical aspects of a law practice and to afford newly admitted active members of the Louisiana Bar the opportunity to obtain their full first MCLE reporting requirement.

The LSBA's "Back to Basics" seminar was held today in New Orleans, featuring a full day of engaging sessions and panel discussions. Topics included ethics, professionalism, drafting effective pleadings, assisting clients in domestic violence situations, rights of active-duty servicemen, and city, traffic and JP court procedures.

LSBA Access to Justice Committee Chair Hon. Lisa Woodruff-White (ret.) visited the Self-Help Desk at the 12th JDC today, and chatted with volunteer attorney Emily Bertholl and notary Nancy Anglin about how the Central Louisiana Pro Bono Project’s self-help centers serve people representing themselves. Congratulations to Kristen D. Amond, former chair of the LSBA Young Lawyers Division, on her selection to serve as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana!

The District Judges of the Eastern District announced Amond’s selection on Oct. 15, pending successful completion of a background investigation.
