Rye Leawood Rye Leawood celebrates midwestern recipes, traditions & culture using local Kansas & Missouri flavors Rye KC on the Country Club Plaza opened in 2017.

Husband-and-wife team Colby and Megan Garrelts have proudly built the Rye restaurant brand to express their love of Kansas City and the Midwest and, by extension, the bountiful culinary region they call home. The original Rye Mission Farms in Leawood, KS, opened in 2012. Despite different footprints, both restaurants offer a comfortable version of urban farmhouse décor. Rye’s menu of chef-inspired

comfort food reflects the couple’s most cherished experiences in the kitchen and around the table. Diners are invited to pull up a chair for a spread showcasing our famous fried chicken served with homemade pickles and ham gravy, a reserve aged steak program with family-style sides including pan-roasted brussels sprouts, and glazed heirloom carrots, succulent Koji aged pork chops, shrimp & grits, and delicious pies available by the slice and whole to-go. In 2015, the Garreltses authored a cookbook to share many of Rye’s favorite recipes in the keepsake cookbook Made in America: A Modern Collection of Classic Recipes. In addition, diners can take home Rye’s signature barbecue and hot sauces. Both Rye locations are open for lunch & dinner daily, with brunch on the weekend. The restaurants also offer a full craft bar, outdoor and private dining spaces, as well as cooking classes and special events.

India has worn just about every hat starting in service, moving into FOH management, and eventually finding her stride in events. With experience in both Leawood and across locations, she brings a well-rounded perspective and a calm confidence to every celebration she helps create.

Her favorite moment? That quiet, anticipatory window right before guests arrive when the vision transforms into a fully realized space. It’s the point where all the behind-the-scenes effort comes to life.

What she loves most is being part of life’s big (and small) moments, creating spaces where guests can relax, connect, and enjoy without thinking twice about the details.
