👍 NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT 👍

At our shows, we like to help raise money and awareness for an amazing nonprofit organization doing great things in our community. This Saturday, we are featuring the Iowa City Bike Library ()! Get your raffle 🎟s at the show for your chance to win a variety of fun prizes including goodies from local businesses, as well as VIP and GA seats for our circus-themed August show, all while supporting a great cause! Read below to learn more about all the cool things the Iowa City Bike Library does for the community.

The Bike Library started in 2004 as a volunteer-run community bike project in Iowa City, Iowa with a mission of getting more people on bikes. They repair donated bikes and offer them to the public for check-out or purchase. With organizational values centering equity, community, sustainability, and education, the Bike Library’s socially conscious programs, beginner-friendly community rides and events make bicycling accessible to everyone in our community.

⚠️ WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENTS ⚠️

We are so excited to offer TWO b u r l e s q u e workshops from two of our Chicago guest performers! Both classes are happening on Sunday, May 24 at the North Liberty Recreation Center. These are $25 each with sliding scale options (including a free option), so head over to the 🔗 in the b!o to sign up! These classes are for ALL LEVELS, and ALL are welcome to come and learn!

🌟 Game Face: Cultivating Natural Facial Expressions for Performance with Eva La Feva ()
11:30AM-1PM

Express yourself from head to toe with this workshop geared toward cultivating natural and dynamic facial expressions in your performance. Instead of just plastering on a fake smile, this workshop will give you psychological tools and tricks to approach generating natural facial expressions from deep within yourself, creating more genuine and resonant characters/body language so you can express yourself and connect on a deeper level to your audience. Bring: Yoga mat (optional)

🌟 Draglesque with Karma Carnelian ()
1-2:30PM

This class is open to ALL GENDERS and expressions and will focus on exploring and deconstructing gender through movement, using Magic Mike traditionally "masculine" choreography and character development as the access point. This class is perfect for anyone looking to dip into Draglesque, dissect and play with traditionally “masculine” movement, and challenge what that’s even supposed to look like! Gender is nothing but learned choreography, let’s explore it together :)

DIRTY JOKES, an all-comedy b u r l e s q u e and variety show is happening THIS SATURDAY in Iowa City! We are so excited to spotlight our fabulously funny headliner for this show! She's the Darling Dynamo of B u r l e s q u e – it's Kitson Sass ()!

Hailing from the Twin T!ddies, Kitson is trained in dance, aerial arts, and life. She’s the ‘Darling Dynamo of B u r l e s q u e’ who really just wants to do a little dance, make a little love, and get down tonight. Kitson is co-producer of the Nudie Nubie Show, the longest-running amateur b u r l e s q u e showcase in the country, as well as co-producer of The Birthday Show, where we party like it’s your birthday every day!

She’s performed on stages across the country, including the B u r l e s q u e Hall of Fame stage in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022, and will return again in 2026 to compete for M Exotic World. When she’s not melting hearts onstage, Kitson enjoys fried SPAM and long walks on the beach with her cats.

Catty Wompass is the Femme Top with the Fat Bottom! Based in Chicago, she performs and teaches all over the Midwest, bringing her bombastic brand of q***r, fat ferocity to the stage. She is the co-producer of B***y B***y Ha Ha, a q***r b u r l e s q u e education community and the premier b u r l e s q u e & variety show in Eastern Iowa. Catty got her start with the q***r troupe Red Hots B u r l e s q u e in San Francisco over a decade ago and is committed to making b u r l e s q u e a radical space inclusive of all races, genders, and abilities. She’ll steal your heart and your girlfriend--she’s just a little askew--she’s Catty Wompass!

🌡PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT🌡

This powerhouse performer is a multi-disciplinary artist coming to you from Chicago – it’s Eva la Feva ()!

Once affectionately dubbed the "pasty tape holding the Chicago bur1esque community together," Eva la Feva is a bur1esque/belly dance producer and the founder/artistic director of the Newport Theater in Chicago.

In 2016, Eva formed Feva Pitch Productions, an event production company specializing in bur1esque/nightlife entertainment and produced/performed full-time before helping found The Newport Theater in June 2019 to give Chicago performers an affordable, well-equipped space to launch their own productions.

In 2025, Eva was selected to perform at the B u r l e s q u e Hall of Fame in the "Movers, Shakers and Innovators" showcase and was featured in the Chicago Reader's People Issue as the "Str!ptease Savant."

Eva has performed regularly at Chicago institutions like Untitled, The Drifter, House of Blues and as part of the dance collective Fringe Factor, directed by Lindsey Marks/Lady Jack. Memorable Fringe Factor performances include opening for Elton John and Eric Clapton.

Eva’s belly dance credits include being cast in the internationally touring show Bellydance Evolution (Washington, DC and New York, 2010), earning second place in the MAQAM Belly Dance Challenge (Pro Tribal Belly Dance Soloist category, Chicago 2009), and performing as a backup dancer for Bollywood star Shefali Zariwala in 2012 (Chicago). She was Level II certified in the Suhaila Salimpour format from 2009-2011.

Eva will be teaching a facial expressions workshop on Sunday, May 24 from 11:30am-1pm at the North Liberty Rec Center! All skill levels are welcome to come and learn! Attendance cost is on a sliding scale, so visit the 🔗 in the b!o to read the class description and sign up!

Maple Citrine is a Tallahassee, Florida based performer who will honk her way to your heart! She has been juggling for almost a decade and is taking those skills from the circus ring to the b u r l e s q u e stage. Clowning around has never been so enjoyable.
