We have been busy trying to get Urban going. Here is what we've been up to this weekend.

Wood came from the red brick house between 7th and 8th street on Vine. I was given permission to go dumpster diving after a remodel job. 100+ year old wood. See photo of stamp on the back of one of the pieces of wood.
This stamp gives a few strong clues, but not an exact cut date.
9What you have appears to be:
“1st GRADE MAPLE”
“WIS. LAND & LBR. CO.”
“HERMANSVILLE, MICH.”
That refers to the old Wisconsin Land & Lumber Company sawmill operation in Hermansville, Michigan, which was a major Upper Peninsula lumber company in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Most likely age range
Based on the stamp style and the company history, this wood was probably milled between:
1880s–1920s
If it truly came from an original mid-1800s house, there are a few possibilities:
the house was remodeled later using this maple,
additions/flooring/cabinetry were installed after the original build,
or the house itself dates later than believed.
Why this matters
The “1st Grade Maple” designation and ink stamp style are typical of industrial-era lumber grading that became common in the late 19th century.
The company itself operated heavily during the lumber boom era:
founded in the 1870s,
Hermansville mill became prominent in the 1880s–1890s,
large-scale maple and hardwood production continued into the early 1900s.
So your board is very likely genuine old-growth maple from that Upper Peninsula logging era.
Visual clues from the wood
From the photo:
tight grain = likely old-growth timber,
rough-sawn appearance,
aged oxidation/patina,
heavy dense hardwood stock.
That all fits late 19th / early 20th century lumber.
Best estimate
If I had to narrow it down from the stamp and appearance alone:
Most likely: 1890–1915
That would line up perfectly with reclaimed lumber found in older Midwest homes.
Here are some examples of similar historic lumber mill markings and Hermansville-era maple lumber:
