Before there were paperbacks, there was Aldus Manutius.

In the early 1500s, books were expensive, substantial things. Aldus had a different idea: make books smaller, portable, and more affordable so more people could actually own and read them.

His little books helped change who had access to literature and knowledge—and the format he pioneered is considered a predecessor to the modern paperback.
It's one of the reasons we're proud to carry his name.
