I am posting this very late Thursday night to give everyone a little update~

Tonight we got hit with a flash flood on Hertel that took out the whole street from Delaware to Parkside, and it was i n s a n e. š First of all, and most importantly (!!) weāre all okay and the bar is okay and we will be open for normal business hours this weekend! Hertel was fully flooded to the door of the bar, and with the help of some very quick thinking bar patrons this evening, we managed to block the water from coming into the bar itself. The basement however wasnāt so lucky, and like most of our neighbors, we fully flooded out. We got VERY lucky and only lost one small piece of equipment (the line chiller for the tap lines was flooded and fried), but the walk-in made it through (thank goth). As some of you know, we have tenants who live in the apartments behind the bar, and the far basement is shared tenant space. Their section of the basement was hit the hardest, and our storage room and the furnace/equipment room fully flooded as well. The bar kitchen also went under water (a few inches) š« but drained quickly and has been fully scrubbed down and will be ready for service for Friday. Iām feeling very overwhelmed, a bit shocked, and extremely lucky all at the same time. I want to thank the folks that were in the bar tonight that saw it happen, for helping, and for being so very kind. And extra thank yous to the crew for showing up and helping in a crisis, for checking in, and for loving The Merry Shelley as much as I do. They are the reason why you all love the bar so much, and Iām wildly thankful for them. I want to also thank my father for FaceTiming with me while I waded through water and kept me calm. Sometimes even an adult needs an adultier adult š Iām going to be very busy this weekend as I mitigate damage, and Iām asking you all to help by coming in and drinking our booze. We honestly need you now more than ever, and weāve always really needed you š¤ Thankful weāre all safe. Much love to you all. š¤k
