CHECK OUT FAE NECTAR IN LAKE LURE! šŸÆ

If you’re cruisin’ through Lake Lure and looking for something a little different, Fae Nectar needs to be on your list. Craft mead, good eats, a medieval tavern vibe, and outdoor space right on the water — this place has become one of those Lake Lure spots that’s just plain fun to hang out at.

And the location is hard to beat. You’re right near the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge, with outdoor areas stretching down toward the water, plus a deck and plenty of room to sit back and enjoy the scenery. Reviews regularly mention the outdoor views and atmosphere as one of the best parts of stopping in.

Now… don’t know what mead is? Basically, it’s an alcoholic drink traditionally made by fermenting honey. Around here, craft mead kinda occupies its own little world alongside craft b**r and c***r. To me? It’s almost like craft b**r and gose got together at a Renaissance festival and decided to start a family. šŸ˜‚ Some of ’em are pretty dang good, too.

Fae Nectar has different meads to sample, along with c***r, b**r and non-alcoholic options, and there’s actual FOOD here — burgers, bratwursts, sandwiches, fish & chips, fries and other tavern-style eats.

And folks seem to dig this place. Recent reviews give plenty of love to the friendly staff, whimsical atmosphere, food, outdoor views and live entertainment. One visitor called it a definite Lake Lure stop after trying several meads, while another loved sitting outside for the views and an open-mic night. Community reviews also talk about Celtic music, medieval events, sword fighting and the whole come-as-you-are atmosphere.

So next time you’re wandering around Lake Lure, go find yourself a seat by the water, grab some grub, order a flight and figure out which mead is YOUR mead.

Have y’all been to Fae Nectar yet? And more importantly… what mead should we try next?

AB(C) Tech Goes From Classrooms to Craft Spirits

For one day, Asheville's A-B Tech might need a temporary name change: AB(C) Tech.

No, the college isn't opening a state-run liquor store. But when the WNC Wh***ey Festival rolls in on Saturday, May 30, the campus conference center is going to feel a whole lot like North Carolina's biggest ABC store — minus the checkout lines and fluorescent lighting, and plus 40+ distilleries, tastings, and wh***ey enthusiasts who actually want to be there.

The event is being hosted with support from Explore Asheville, Buncombe County's tourism organization, funded through occupancy tax revenue from overnight visitors. The mission is simple: attract visitors, generate activity, support local businesses, and keep building the kind of experiences that put Asheville on people's travel lists.

It's a virtuous cycle, really. Visitors fill hotel rooms. Hotel taxes fund tourism. Tourism supports events. Events bring more visitors.

Asheville built its national reputation on craft b**r, shaping the region's food, beverage, and tourism identity for years. Now wh***ey and craft distilling are finding their own foothold in Western North Carolina's ever-growing beverage scene.

B**r may still be Asheville's most famous pour — but for one afternoon, A-B Tech becomes AB(C) Tech.

We don’t talk about this part enough…

The constant juggling.
Work, schedules, meals, responsibilities… and somewhere in there, trying to hold onto a little bit of yourself.

As parents, even something as simple as going out can feel complicated. You want a place where your kids feel welcome—but also somewhere you can breathe for a moment too.

And that’s where Asheville quietly gets it right.

Around here, breweries have become something more than just a place to grab a drink. They’ve turned into spaces where families can exist together—kids playing freely, parents slowing down just enough to reconnect, whether there’s a b**r in hand or not.

Because sometimes it’s not about the drink…
It’s about the moment.

If you’re looking for spots that work for both you and your kids, this is a good place to start: https://hikecookshare.com/kid-friendly-breweries-in-asheville/ **r **rCityUSA **r
