Asheville's Jackson Grimm brings a new project to the Jack of the Wood stage starting at 8:30pm this SATURDAY, JUNE 20TH with his OLD TIME MACHINE!

Pulling from some of the finest bluegrass and old-time pickers Asheville has to offer, Grimm’s newest project is full of dynamism and excitement. Expect to hear some of the good old songs like you’ve never heard them before!

An accomplished multi-instrumentalist and respected teacher in the local music community, Jackson marries folk pop melodies with the lonesome sound of traditional Appalachian music.

The son of singer-songwriter Tim Grimm, he studied Traditional Music at Warren Wilson College, and guitar, banjo, mandolin, & singing with the WNC music master Josh Goforth. Whether he’s playing solo, with a band, or in tandem with other musicians locally or on tour, Grimm’s music is as multi-faceted as the instruments he’s mastered — from homages to a traditional country waltz to unrequited love songs to drunken party-grass.

Asheville’s Holler & Crow is bringing all the cottagecore vibes to the Jack of the Wood stage this FRIDAY, JUNE 19TH — starting at 8:30pm!

With a whimsical folk fusion sound equal parts Celtic spirit, Appalachian heart, & newgrass energy — woven together with a touch of Shire-ish magic — HOLLER & CROW’s rich vocals, acoustic instrumentation, & storytelling charm feels both transportive AND deeply rooted, like a fireside song passed down through generations.

The full band will be on hand Friday night — featuring everything from viola/big fiddle, accordion, banjo, Irish bouzouki, guitar, and hand percussion — plus epic harmonies that would make Thorin & Company jealous. Think Nickel Creek meets The Pogues at Bag End!

We're always thrilled to welcome the multi-talented Darren Nicholson Music back to perform at Jack of the Wood — and he’s bringing a few friends along — namely THE SHED HOUSE TRIO — with him this THURSDAY, 6/18 for a special edition of our legendary BLUEGRASS JAM at 7pm! 🎶🔥🎶

Aside from being one of the nicest fellas around, Darren is a Grammy nominee & a 13-time IBMA Award winner who's been playing mountain music since his youth here in Western NC. A punchy mandolinist and an introspective songwriter, harmony singer, and lead vocalist, Darren has made it his mission to create shows that are genuine, fun-witted, and designed to make everyone feel right at home.

Austin’s Brian Wolff & The Howlers will be rockin’ the house at Jack of the Wood this SATURDAY 6/13 starting at 8:30pm!

Fronted by veteran guitarist/singer-songwriter Wolff, the band has a sound that blends classic rock, 90s alternative, & Americana influences — marked by big guitars & rhythms that give gritty, bluesy life to Wolff’s hopeful storytelling & nuanced songcraft.

The band’s Jack show is the only WNC leg of a summer tour supporting Wolff’s debut full-length album, “Leave the Lights On”, which dropped in August and is available wherever music is streamed or sold!

Music Capital Magazine calls the record “a cohesive, genre-blending album that resonates with fans of rock, indie, blues, country, Americana — or anyone who enjoys porch beers, poolside afternoons, or a long drive under the . . . sun”.

Come soothe your soul this FRIDAY 6/12 starting at 8:30 pm with the Jack of the Wood debut of Asheville’s The Backyard Revival!

The musical collaboration of singer-songwriters SARAH LITTLE DRUM (vocals, ukuleles, guitar, mandolin) & BRIAN BINGHAM (vocals, guitars, mandolin, banjo, piano), THE BACKYARD REVIVAL got its start in Salt Lake City in 2018 before the duo relocated to WNC last year.

Blending the soul of folk-Americana with the intimacy of acoustic jazz, bluegrass, and modern singer-songwriter traditions — and drawing inspiration from artists like The Civil Wars, Johnnyswim, and Elephant Revival — their music is defined by heartfelt harmonies, evocative storytelling, and an organic acoustic sound that carries listeners from quiet reflection to foot-stomping joy.

They’ll be performing with a full band on Friday, joined by OWEN WALSH (fiddle, guitar, vocals) & RYAN CRABTREE (upright bass).

Florida’s GYSPY STRINGS REVIVAL are bringing their spirited and eclectic sound to JACK OF THE WOOD PUB this SATURDAY 5/30 starting at 8:30pm!

A collective of musicians with a passion and zeal for bluegrass, Americana, Irish & country songs, the band was founded by MICHELLE PENNINGTON (guitar & lead vocals) and LUCIA HARE-LEAHY (banjo & backing vocals), organically growing to include a multitude of acoustic stringed instrument players on fiddle, mandolin, stand-up bass, and even dobro.

Capturing a gypsy spirit and spanning different genres, the band delights in singing three-part harmonies and playing up-beat and diverse tunes.
