It’s with a heart full of sorrow that I write this. Saying goodbye to our beloved Jewel feels impossible. Billy’s mother passed away over the weekend. She lived 97 full and meaningful years with a quiet resilience that carried her through everything life placed in her path. There are no words that can fully express what she meant to us — as a mother, a grandmother, and for me, the most extraordinary friend, mentor & chosen mother anyone could hope for. It’s been a privilege and honor to know her, to care for her, to love her, and to be loved by her. Jewel was truly one of a kind — so gentle, beyond wise, incredibly strong, full of humor, and deeply devoted to her family. She was one of the deepest and most constant parts of my life. She provided the kind of comfort that only comes with true love and trust. She was my friend, my companion, and truly an inspiration.
