Dearest Gentle Reader,
It has come to this author’s attention that the second gathering of the esteemed Hop & Vine Book Club shall take place this Thursday from 7:30pm.
Following the success of our inaugural assembly, it appears we have stumbled upon a most agreeable arrangement. There is, to the delight of many, no prescribed reading and no fear of arriving inadequately prepared. Simply bring along the book currently occupying your bedside table, handbag, or favourite reading chair, and be ready to share what you are enjoying—or perhaps merely discuss the kinds of tales that most capture your imagination.
Indeed, while books were naturally the principal topic of conversation at our first meeting, lively diversions into gardening, cooking, and travel proved equally enchanting.
And for those who arrive with a book in hand, Hop & Vine is delighted to offer a complimentary hot drink with any food ordered. One can hardly imagine a more suitable pairing for a winter’s evening. And if this author may be so bold… have you tried the chocolate pud?
Bookings are not necessary at this stage. Should our literary society grow beyond the size of a single table, we shall simply rearrange the furniture and carry on in splendid fashion.
So rather than remaining at home, peering gloomily through the window and grumbling about the weather, venture forth for an evening of good company, good conversation, a warm cuppa, and perhaps a recommendation for your next great read.
