Malaysian artist FC takes a familiar Malaysian icon and removes the very thing that makes it recognisable.

The name “durian” is derived from the Malay word duri, meaning “thorn”, with the suffix “-an” referring to a multitude of thorns.

Curious to see what a durian would look like without its defining characteristic, the artist sanded down a 3.75kg Durian G***a (D158) using a belt sander.

Malaysian artist Hoo Fan Chon takes a familiar Malaysian icon and removes the very thing that makes it recognisable.
