Uscendo da Carrión de los Condes, il Cammino di Santiago passa davanti a un edificio che ha contribuito a farne la storia: il Monastero cluniacense di San Zoilo.

Oggi la sua struttura ospita un hotel a 4 stelle (peraltro dai prezzi molto ragionevoli) ed è aperto ai visitatori. Cosa che consente di ammirarne il magnifico chiostro plateresco e di scoprire qualcosa di più sulla storia di Cluny e del Cammino stesso.

Leaving Carrión de los Condes, the Camino de Santiago passes a building that has helped shape its history: the Cluniac Monastery of San Zoilo.

Today, the building houses a 4-star hotel (at very reasonable prices) and is open to visitors. This allows you to admire its magnificent Plateresque cloister and learn more about the history of Cluny and the Camino itself.

On the 4th day of our trip, we discovered the Serra de Alvão Natural Park, with a scenic walk in the surroundings of Lamas de Olo.

The local café is a precious meeting point for the community and has been a reference place for us and we had a chance of sharing our lunch spot with some friendly cows, absurdly uninterested in Tita’s excellent salads.

Day 3 on the Vibtage Ways to Porto trip with ATG Oxford left us beautiful memories of the valley of the Rio Peneda, always inside the National Park de Peneda Gerês.

We did a linear walk from the beautiful Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Peneda to the impressive viewpoint of Tibo. A nice lunch in a cosy restaurant in Soajo was the perfect celebration for a great day.

Have you ever walked one of the trails of Northern Portugal? I am enjoying this part of the country really a lot!

Today we made a very nice circular walk in the Laboreiro Valley (Natural Park of
Peneda y Gerês), discovering the transhumance tradition that shaped this
land and its people.
It was a great way to start our walking trip, that will lead us South Towards the
Douro Valley and Porto!
