It was the closing of one enduring chapter and the dawning of a new one in Edgeworthstown at the weekend as the owners of The Goldsmith Inn, more affectionately known as Keenan’s, called time on last orders for the final time after more than three decades in existence.

That sense of longevity, instigated firstly by the late and well-respected businessman Sonny Keenan and carried on by his daughter Denise, had seen it become one of the county’s most popular watering holes.

And so we turned the last page of this chapter in The Goldsmith Inn. We said our last goodbyes through tears of affection and thanks to all our well-wishers over the last week.

But for those who sadly missed the celebrations of last orders in Keenans, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal and fantastic customers/great friends for their tremendous support over the past 35 years.

To those who celebrated all their milestone occasions from 21st to 90th, christenings to weddings, and sadly to the departing of some great characters and friends. Thank you ❤️

To the great staff we have been blessed with over the years; Sean, Thomas & Catherine, Mandy and last but not at all least, Eileen. Thank you ❤️

To the great neighbours, especially Christy Parker and family, who supported us in every way possible, your friendship and banter will never be forgotten ❤️

So with great gratitude and huge heartfelt thanks, we wish all our friends and loyal customers the very best of good health and happiness always ❤️
