It is with profound sadness that we learned, yesterday evening, of the death of our good friend,Frank Rooney.
Frank was one of the first men to cross the threshold in Jack’s Corner back in the early 90’s and we remained great friends all through the years since.
Frank was first and foremost a farmer, he loved the land, he loved the bog, and he loved all his animals. He had a great fondness for horses and was,for many years, a great ploughman with a pair of horses.
He was a great man to tell stories,he often spoke of his father’s travels in the USA, in particular his trip to Bute in Montana. He remembered all the old people around Edgeworthstown and even though they are long gone, he still spoke fondly of them and had lots of funny stories, from cycling a bike to the dances in Granard to walking animals to fairs.
He loved to chat, and was friends with young and old alike, but his greatest joy in life was seeing his two sons and his daughter succeed so well in life, and the icing on the cake for him was the arrival of his grandchildren.
His rock in life over the past 60plus years was, of course, his wife Ann, who was not only his wife but also his best friend and supporter in all things.
Frank is a huge loss to his family, his neighbours and the entire community as his like will never be seen again around Edgeworthstown
May he rest in peace.
