Join artist Shirani Bolle for Make Yourself Great Again, a performance exploring identity in an age of self-branding and constant reinvention. Through her multidisciplinary practice, Bolle questions whether an authentic self exists, or if identity is always something shaped and performed through our interactions with others.
Accessibility: Three steps at the entrance; a temporary wheelchair ramp is available on request. Facilities are accessed via stairs.
Performance – Shirani Bolle: Make Yourself Great Again
Shirani Bolle is an artist based in Limerick City, Ireland. She has Sri Lankan, Dutch-German, and British heritage. Her practice spans performance, text, sculpture, and sound, with textiles functioning as a central medium that integrates these disciplines. Her work is shaped by both lived and inherited experiences of displacement and survival, and explores themes of ethnicity, intergenerational trauma, gender-based violence, and masking.
Make Yourself Great Again (2026) examines identity as socially constructed. In an era dominated by self-branding and endless self-improvement, we are constantly encouraged to seek out our ‘true’ selves while simultaneously reinventing who we are. This work questions whether that authentic self we are searching for exists at all, or whether identity is always something performed, shaped and negotiated through our interactions with others.

This performance is organised by SIRIUS as part of a tour of Shirani Bolle’s work curated by SIRIUS Director Miguel Amado. This tour includes SIRIUS, Pallas Projects/Studios in Dublin, PS2 in Belfast, Centre for Contemporary Art Derry-Londonderry, and Screen Service. The tour is supported by the Arts Council through the Shared Island Touring Scheme, delivered in partnership with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and funded by the Shared Island Cultural Cooperation Fund.
