Village pubs like ours are more than somewhere to enjoy a pint. We’re a meeting place, a place to celebrate, support local jobs, and bring our community together.

But running an independent pub is becoming increasingly difficult. Rising costs continue to put huge pressure on pubs across the country.

That’s why we’re supporting the VAT’s The Problem campaign, which is calling on the Government to reduce VAT for hospitality businesses from 20% to 10%.

A lower VAT rate would help pubs, cafés, restaurants and hotels invest more in their businesses, protect jobs, and keep serving the communities that rely on them.

Whilst others did an amazing thing trudging 30 miles across the Mendip hills for Weston Hospicecare, we took an easier route.
We strolled around local hostelries in Worle, Milton and Kewstoke for the same cause. We collected over £300 pounds on the day and we still have a football scratch card that should raise a further £125.

Tomorrow morning we will be partaking in what we hope to be an annual event. Whilst others are doing an amazing thing and trudging 30 miles in the sweltering heat across the Mendip’s for Weston Hospicecare.
The Old Kings Head Ramblers will endeavour to complete just over 8 miles on a pub crawl for the same charity.
Feel free to jump on board and come and join us at any point and walk your own distance with a ten pound donation for entry.
On our return to the OKH we will be joined by the cycling jukebox Tony Black.
