Owned & run by brothers Tom & James Bainbridge, The White Hart offers varied menus, real ales & an extensive wine list.

Plus 13 guest bedrooms & private function room. Named Pub & Bar Magazine Best Pub in Hertfordshire & the East of |England in 2019. The White Hart dates back to 1681 and it was Welwyn's main coaching inn. It was a popular overnight stop for travellers going north from London and at one point it offered fourteen beds for
humans and stabling for thirty four horses. It was also home to the village courtroom, where petty sessions were held, when misdemeanours may have included theft and assault and, ironically,
drunkenness. For lunch & dinner the restaurant offers an A la Carte menu as well as a bar snack & sharers menu. The bar is open all day where you can pop in for a pint of real ale or have cocktails & G&T's before
your meal. The extensive wine list consists of wines carefully selected by one of the brothers James who enjoys nothing more than recommending & discussing wine. The kitchen uses quality ingredients that are the drive for delicious, well thought out & creative dishes.

He asked…. we answered - The Haigh club sandwich 🙌🏻

When a regular tells you how much they love a sarny but their dietary requirements make it tricky… we jump into action. This new special was made by Tom & Mr Haigh, honouring their joint love of a sandwich but respecting a low saturated fat diet.

Featuring chicken breast, slow cooked & chargrilled bacon loin, olive oil egg mayo, lettuce & tomato - served with game chips.

We will be swapping this up in the next few weeks with James’s infamous Christmas sandwich & keen to hear your requests too 🌲

With November arriving this week, it’s time to start planning those festive gatherings, mums’ nights out & social club get-togethers ✨🎄

Our 2026 festive menus feature old favourites, including our mushroom mince pies & figgy toffee pudding, alongside some exciting new creations to get you well & truly in the Christmas spirit.

Available for groups of 9+, these dishes will also feature on our main menu throughout the festive season, so everyone can enjoy a little festive indulgence.

Who’s that?… It’s Ivan! 👋

Ivan’s been part of the team for a while, but you’ll now be seeing a lot more of him at The Hart as our new Assistant Manager!

With years of experience across hotels & bars, Ivan brings plenty of knowledge to the role, along with a real passion for mixology. He loves getting creative behind the bar, experimenting with liqueur combinations & blending flavours to create something a little different. 🍸

He’s also a big fan of classic French cuisine & when he’s not working, you’ll probably find him putting his skills to the test as a bullet chess whizz! ♟️
