On Monday, we welcomed James Murray MP, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, to The Grand Junction Arms.

He sat down with our owner Dan Fox for an open conversation about the government’s newly launched review of business rates valuations for pubs — a review that will shape the next revaluation in 2029, and could make a real difference to how pubs like ours are assessed and taxed in future.

The conversation covered the wider pressures facing local pubs and the hospitality industry, and the importance of a fairer, more transparent system that reflects how pubs actually operate today.

Great to have that conversation happening here, at the pub, with the people who run it day to day.
