🍽️ We’re proud to once again be part of the Happy Healthy Active Holidays programme at The Wakes this summer! ☀️

Our team will be preparing fresh, healthy and delicious lunches for every session 💛

It’s a pleasure to support such a fantastic programme year after year, helping to keep children fuelled, happy and ready for an afternoon of summer fun 🌴

☀️ Make the most of a Happy, Healthy & Active Summer at The Wakes! 🌴

We’re excited to be part of the Happy Healthy Active Holidays (HHAH) Scheme, offering FREE places for children and young people eligible for benefit-related free school meals. It’s the perfect way to stay active, have fun, and enjoy a healthy meal during the school holidays!

Our sessions run from 12noon–3pm and are open to children in Reception up to Year 11 (ages 4–16), with a wide range of engaging activities on offer throughout the summer – check out our poster below for the full line-up!

💛 Not eligible for HHAH?
You can still join the fun! Paid places are available for just £3.00 per child, which also includes lunch.

🎟️ How to book:
- HHAH-funded places can be booked online via: https://hhah.telford.gov.uk/
- £3 paid places can be purchased in person at The Wakes on Mondays and Fridays between 10am–2pm

👨‍👩‍👧 Please note: A parent or carer must remain with their child throughout the session.

💛 National Volunteers’ Week 🌟 Meet Matt!
Matt has been part of The Outpost Cafe & Bar for 5 years, supporting both in the kitchen and front of house. He enjoys preparing food, especially making toast and helping with vegetable prep, and takes pride in keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.

Matt also enjoys serving customers and being part of the front‑of‑house team, where his friendly approach shines through. With strong communication skills and excellent time management, he is a valued member of the team.

Kieran has been part of The Outpost Cafe & Bar team for 5 years. He’s hardworking and loves helping in the kitchen, as well as always serving customers with a smile 😃

Kieran has great time management and listening skills, and he brings so much joy to the whole team.

Kieran says he enjoys coming to the café because he likes socialising with customers and staff and he has his regular weekly tasks that he looks forward to.

We’re proud to share that Emma and Katie, two members of our team, have recently completed the Orange Button Community Scheme, strengthening the support available across our communities.

Su***de prevention is not something services can do alone. During Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re reminded that small actions, taken together, make a real difference.

The Orange Button Scheme helps build visible, community‑based support across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, enabling people to listen, respond and guide others to the right help.
