🧯‼️ Yesterday we noticed yet another fire, this was on the park on the opposite side of the wall to where our fire was. Our volunteers took some buckets of water and climbed over our wall to put it out, getting covered in vandal grease while doing this. 2 hours later there was another one pretty much next to where the other was. We then decided to call out the fire brigade to sort this as cans of accelerant could be seen in it. We went round to the same corner today and recovered some kindling and a hand saw. The kids doing this definitely don’t plan on stopping any time soon. This corner of the park needs opening up. This won’t stop. ‼️🧯

Please share this post in the hope we get some support and help for the club. If anyone can help with some security fencing, new or second hand please get in touch. We invite anyone to come and see our Club there’s no finer place in Stockport to watch Cricket and have a few drinks with friends and family!

Stockport Cricket Clubs says repeated fires and other attacks are costing it money and volunteer time.

Good news and bad news I’m afraid! 🤷🏻‍♀️

We FINALLY have rain! Our pitch so desperately needs it! ☔️

But it also means there’s no match so we have decided to stay closed today. 😔

We will be back open tomorrow night at 6pm! 🍻

A long post but please read! 😔

I wasn’t actually going to post anything but I’m so over this now. The corner of Cale Green park that backs onto our property has caused us problems for well over a year now. It’s quite a big open space once you get through the bushes. Kids cause so much trouble for us here last year they were throwing lit cans over the wall at our cricketers. Climbing over and breaking our benches they even knocked down this wall that’s behind the fire pictured. They’ve cost us so much money in damages, repairs and vandal paint to try and stop it. This was today at 5:40pm while the cricket was on. Obviously the game had to be stopped this fire was quite big and actually on our side of the wall not the parks. My guess is aerosol cans lit and thrown (just going off what I’ve previously seen). Now all it would take to deter this is getting rid of a lot of the bushes in this corner and ploughing the soil so the whole corner is an open space and not a hidden place for kids to set fire. Only two months ago I had to call the fire brigade out to a large fire on the parks property on the opposite side of this wall.

It’s just so sad to see all the time and it’s getting worse and im honestly scared one of these kids will get seriously hurt one day! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Who can I get in touch with about this corner of the park and possibly opening it up??

And if you were on the park around this time did you see anything??

As we have another hot week coming up please think before taking your dogs out. If you do happen to be out and need water we have plenty of dog bowls on the terrace and a tap under the bay windows. We’d prefer you to wait until the evening to bring your dogs for a walk though. 🐾
