Chris has been our Quiz Master for an incredible 16 years! While he might not be local, making the 45-minute journey to get here each week, he's very much part of the family.

We asked Chris what he loves most about giving up his Saturday nights to host an old-school paper quiz. He said "I love coming down because of the fantastic atmosphere, seeing everyone enjoy themselves, and the great friendships I have made"

We're lucky to have him, and our Saturday nights wouldn't be the same without him!

Meet the Locals #10 – Billy

Number 10 in our Meet the Locals series is Billy!

Billy has been drinking here for an incredible 60 years. He first came in when he was just 15 years old – the rules weren't quite as strict back then!

What does he love most about the pub?

"You get treated like you're wanted."

Billy's drink of choice is Hopster.

"Hopster >is a lovely bitter, and I like bitter. It's not too heavy and makes for an easy session beer."

Day 9 of our Meet the Locals series – Meet Trevor! 🍷

Trevor has been drinking with us for around four years, but he's become a much more familiar face over the last two!

A big fan of our wine offer, Trevor loves taking advantage of a bottle for just £12 — and honestly, who can blame him?

He's also very fond of our Marie, saying: "She takes good care of me, making sure my glass is never empty and always greeting me with a big smile."

After much thought, Robert Macbeth has officially decided to retire.

Rob has been a valued member of the Prince of Wales team for the past six years. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, he has been unable to work over the last year, and he has now made the difficult decision to step back and focus on spending quality time with his family and enjoying a bit of gardening.

To me, Rob has always been much more than a member of staff — he's family, and he will be missed dearly behind the bar.

Before he hangs up his apron for good, Rob would love to share a few retirement drinks with the customers and friends he has made over the years. He would like to invite everyone to join him at the Prince of Wales on Sunday 28th June at 4pm for a pint and a proper send-off.

Don't worry, this won't be the last you'll see of Rob! He'll just be on the other side of the bar. After all, he was a customer long before he became part of the team.

Please join us in wishing Rob a happy and well-deserved retirement. 🍻

Meet Tony, aka TTT, who has been enjoying a pint here for the past 35 years!

Tony's drink of choice is a pint of San Miguel, and he loves catching up with his best pals. He enjoys spending his afternoons here, sharing plenty of laughs with all the work lads and making the most of the great atmosphere.

Meet Tommy, better known as “Bits n Bobs”!

Tommy has been drinking in the Mop for over 40 years, and it’s easy to see why. With all his best mates here, he loves spending his retirement enjoying the great atmosphere, good company!

We love having Tommy around – the place simply wouldn’t be the same without him!

So, what keeps him coming back after all these years? According to Tommy, it’s the fantastic people, the brilliant staff… and, of course, the Strongbow! 🍏🍺
