What's the star of the show on a Sunday for you?

For some people it's the roast beef, perfectly pink, tender, and full of flavour. For some it's the cauli cheese, rich and creamy. For others it's the Yorkies - crunchy on the edges, soft in the middle and just begging to have gravy poured all over them. Then again, maybe it's the tenderstem broccoli, just delicious and lightly seasoned.

Two lovely couples. Both visiting Stamford for one night. Both staying nearby in the Crown Hotel. Both booked tables at Orbis for the evening. We sat them at neighbouring tables just because that's the way the bookings worked out.

Then the magic happens. Chatting to them, we discover that both couples live in Derby. We laugh, because what are the odds? We introduce them to each other.

Of course they get chatting. And it turns out they don't just both live in Derby. They live in the same suburb. The same estate. They live around the corner from each other. Literally two minutes' walk away. They are virtually neighbours. They have lots of mutual friends. They drink in the same pubs at home, eat in the same restaurants. But they have never - until tonight - met!

Oh, and they pretty much ordered the same dishes too. We can tell it is nearly Hallowe'en because that was spooky.

That's the magic of a night out in Stamford.

MEET THE W**E LIST: Chateau Vieille Tour La Rose Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

A superb deep ruby red colour with very delicate aromas of sweet spices, toasted notes and intense black fruits. On the palate it is beautifully rich and complex with great generosity and full of aromas of fresh forest fruits with silky tannins giving it great finesse.

The Ybert family have owned the Chateau for over four generations and they have successfully kept their Grand Cru classification since 1987 thanks to their consummate commitment to outstanding quality and craftmanship. This 80% Merlot 20% Cabernet Franc AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru will complement any meat dish, but especially richer game, beef or lamb.

MEET THE W**E LIST: Villa Pani Gavi

Produced from 100% Cortese grown on the steep slopes in Piedmont, this white w**e is elegant and well balanced. On the nose, there are aromas of citrus and orchard fruit and a hint of white flowers. Villa Pani is a new and innovative w**ery from oenologist Stella Grasso where she focused on classic Piemontese grape varieties but focuses on high quality clean w**emaking and modern packaging.

Pair it on the Orbis menu with our cod or sea bass dishes, or any white fish dish or even pasta and pesto dishes at home.
