As the world we live in grows darker and more bewildering with every passing day, the transformative power of music has never been more vital. Formed in the small French town of Bagnols-sur-Cèze at the dawn of the century, underground icons Alcest have always been clear about their desire to transport listeners to somewhere different, somewhere better. Led by founder and multi-instrumentalist Neige, the French artists have been one of the most consistently radical voices in all of heavy music, with a sound that eschews metal’s often myopic devotion to casting shadows, in favour of a sublime blend of darkness and blinding bright light.

The Listening Garden: Night Flight - Band

Night Flight are a London‑based group founded by singer‑songwriter Sam Holmes. Formed in 2017, they make melodic, experimental indie‑folk that blends contemplative lyrics, joyful melodies and sometimes jagged, often glassy guitar‑led textures. They play dramatic, richly textured indie rock in the vein of Elbow and The War on Drugs.

One of six artists performing at The Listening Garden - not long now ✨️

The Listening Garden: Laura Reznek

Laura Reznek is a songwriter, composer and independent artist whose work spans music, theatre, dance, film and podcasts. Her songwriting blends folk, indie rock and atmospheric chamber‑pop, often exploring themes of memory, family, grief and place. She has toured extensively across Canada, the UK and Europe, and her music has appeared in productions including projects for Netflix, Hallmark, Lifetime and various independent films, short films and podcasts.

On Laura’s raw and exacting new album The Sewing Room, the Canada‑born/UK‑based singer‑songwriter takes an unflinching look at the ways grief and joy function not as binary opposites but as companion states.

One of six artists bringing her story through music to our Sunday afternoon show ✨️
