Oakstock has been running successfully for over ten years, and we have never experienced issues of this nature before.
Unfortunately, a small minority of attendees chose to behave in a completely unacceptable manner. After being politely asked to leave, they became violent and assaulted several members of our security team and staff. The police were called and responded swiftly, bringing the situation under control as quickly as possible and allowing the event to continue safely.
In addition, the external company contracted to provide the big screen for the football encountered an unforeseen technical failure. The team arrived on site during the afternoon and began assembling the screen within the vehicle, with the cover closed to minimise disruption to the live entertainment and provide suitable working conditions for the technician. Once assembled, a software mapping fault prevented the image from displaying correctly across the screen, rendering it unusable despite the team's efforts to resolve the issue.
We fully appreciate that both of these circumstances will have impacted guests' enjoyment of the event and the football coverage, and for that we sincerely apologise. While these issues were outside of our control, we recognise the disappointment they caused and understand the frustration felt by many of our guests.
We are already working closely with our screen provider to ensure an alternative solution is in place for Wednesday's match. Those who have attended the other England games this year will know the screen has been great quality throughout.
As a gesture of goodwill and to thank our valued customers for their understanding, we will be offering **half-price pints from 5pm–7pm before kick-off**
