🍻❤️ ONE YEAR AT THE MILESTONE ❤️🍻
Well… somehow it’s been a whole year since I took over at The Milestone!
Twelve months of pulling pints, putting on bands, moving furniture, losing my drink somewhere in the pub and discovering that “I’ll just do this one last thing” is the biggest lie I tell myself. 😂
It’s been a brilliant year. There have been ups and downs, long days, late nights and a few moments of standing in the cellar wondering what I went down there for. But there’s been far more laughter, friendship and good memories — and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.
I knew taking on a pub would be hard work. I’m not sure I realised I was also signing up to be an events organiser, furniture removal service, occasional counsellor and the person everyone calls when something makes a noise it shouldn’t. But here we are, and I wouldn’t change it. Well… perhaps a little more sleep. 😂
The best part of this year has, without a doubt, been the people. So this is a big thank you to everyone who’s helped me along the way. ❤️
A special thank you to Sam Jones, who’s been working away in the background, helping keep everything together (Mainly me) So much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but it doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated. Thank you for all the hard work, the support and for dealing with whatever my latest “brilliant idea” turns out to involve. You deserve a medal 😂❤️
To my team — thank you for the hard work, the busy shifts, the laughs and for putting up with me saying, “I’ve had an idea.” I appreciate that those four words usually mean more work and possibly moving all the tables again. Behind every great night is a lot of effort that customers don’t always see, and I’m grateful for everything you do.
To our customers and regulars — thank you for your support, your company and for making The Milestone such a special place. Whether you’ve been here for years or only recently started coming in, you’ve helped make this pub what it is. Every visit, recommendation, shared post and friend you’ve brought along has made a difference.
Some of you spend enough time here that I’m considering putting you on the rota. You’re already very good at supervising from the other side of the bar. 🍻😂
To all the bands, musicians, jam night regulars, hosts and everyone behind the scenes — thank you for bringing this place to life. Live music has been such a huge part of my first year, and I’ve loved seeing the community around it grow.
From our weekly jams to Rock The Milestone, we’ve had some incredible moments. You’ve given us brilliant music, unforgettable nights and plenty of opportunities to discover just how loudly people can talk while someone is trying to tune a guitar. 🎸😂
To my friends and everyone who’s supported me personally — thank you for listening, offering advice, lending a hand and accepting that “I’ll be finished soon” is apparently a very flexible concept. Whether you’ve helped with something big or just made me laugh when I needed it, it’s meant more than you probably realise.
I can’t name everyone without missing somebody, but if you’ve helped me or supported the pub in any way this year, please know that I appreciate it.
For all the big events, some of my favourite moments have been the everyday ones. A laugh across the bar, a new face becoming a regular, an unexpected brilliant performance at a jam, or looking around a busy pub and seeing everyone having a genuinely good time.
Those are the moments that make the long hours worth it. That, and finally finding the cup of tea I made three hours earlier. Cold, obviously. ☕😂
🎉🎸 WE’LL BE CELEBRATING TOMORROW AT ELECTRIC JAM NIGHT FROM 9PM! 🎸🎉
I’d love you to come down, have a drink with me and help celebrate a year at The Milestone. There’ll be music, plenty of familiar faces and a very good chance I’ll claim I’m having the night off while still collecting glasses.
Thank you for welcoming me, supporting me and helping make this first year so special. I’m proud to be here, and even prouder of the people I get to share it with.
Here’s to another year of great music, questionable jokes and me saying, “Go on then, one more.” 🍻❤️
