It is impressive enough that Queen Elizabeth I allegedly stayed at the pub, let alone the Guy Fawkes rumours. Legend has it that The George & Dragon was where Fawkes hatched his infamous gunpowder plot and that it was also the place where he was captured after fleeing London when it failed.

The restaurant will be closed for a private function this Saturday 29 August.

Guests can still enjoy the bar area, with access via the front door only. Please note that the car park will also be closed.

“This is one of those pubs when you go for the first time, you kick yourself for not finding it sooner.

A gorgeously styled pub without the normal price tag these kind of gastro-pubs bring. Menu was nice and varied - again for the presentation and taste of the food I couldn't believe the value!

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and didn't rush us.

There is also outdoor seating, bar area, and a decent sized car park at the rear.

Without a doubt I'd come back to this pub.”
